Colorado spine surgeon, Dr. Donald Corenman, sits down with TV8 Vail to discuss specific spine conditions that create back pain in individuals.  Many spine conditions are caused inadvertently by the normal aging process and the general wear and tear that the spine takes each and every day. Some of the most common causes of lumbar back pain are the result of this natural wear and tear.

During this TV8 Vail interview, Dr. Corenman discusses Degenerative Spondylolisthesis.  This back condition is one of the leading most common causes of lumbar back pain in individuals who are active and partake in sports.

When a person has Degenerative Spondylolisthesis the disc between two vertebrae within the spine wears out due to aging and normal wear and tear. When this occurs, the vertebra on top slides forward on the vertebra below resulting in a narrowing of the spinal canal. This condition creates pressure on the nerves which is a major factor of back pain.

During the live interview, Dr. Corenman discusses the importance of good posture and says that a strong core and good posture help prevent back pain and conditions such as Degenerative Spondylolisthesis. Dr. Corenman continues by saying that by rotating your pelvis and tightening your abdominal muscles, the back naturally straightens which helps keep the long-term health of the spine in check.
