The report above is a MRI Post-surgery. This is why I’m confused. I thought after looking at the post-operative report all this stuff was done, but I couldn’t figure out why there would be words such as severe and extensive in a post-operative MRI’s.

C5-6:Endplate spurring most pronounced on right subarticular zone producing mild cord flattening. Mild to moderate right foraminal stenosis is noted. The left foramen is at midly stenotic.

C6-7: Subarticular endplate spurring is noted. The midline canal is mildly stenotic. Slight cord flattening worse on right. Extensive right foraminal stenosis is seen again. The left foramen is at least moderately stenotic.

The C5-6 midline canal is also mildly stenotic.

If the report says all nerve roots and Dura are well-decompressed….would that be a indication that you shouldn’t have extensive stenosis? If you have a section I could read that might stop my bugging questions.

    Thank you again.

So if you have a foraminotomy during ACDF it should open the foramina up from extensive stenosis? I guess the overall question would be if you had extensive stenosis prior to a ACDF then the level of stenosis should not still be extensive post surgery MRI.

    Thank you for your input.

    Dr. Corenman,

If you undergo a foraminotomy procedure, should you still have extensive/severe stenosis in the area where it was preformed?

Very accurate with the knowledge I got out of that appointment. The swallow issue. Can this be fixed you think. It has been 2 years since surgery. Also what if any nerve controls the muscle that expands the esophagus? Apparently that is the issue is that the muscle is hitting the plate causing the swallow issue. Is that normal after ACDF for contact of the plate and that muscle?
