in reply to: Recent Diagnosed Bilateral Pars Fracture with Pain #5938
As you can tell that I have a disease or a thing that makes me the best of what I do. I have OCD no diagnosed but that is the way I think or can’t stop thinking . We are going for a shot as discussed in we’d April 4th for the pars. But my leg pain is unbearable too . I’m wondering if my past alcohol abuse is contributing to my pain as alcohol neuropathy? I still drink alcohol but not to the extent of my early years . Or is this me over thinking because we all know both leg and back are on the same nerve paths? Just coincidental they are happening at same time. I really should get off the Internet !
in reply to: Recent Diagnosed Bilateral Pars Fracture with Pain #5929good luck also!!! I got a good feeling I’m going to have tfe fusion too . But let’s look at the glass as being half full . My work doesn’t have light duty so I hope work comp will want to do every thing possible to get me back running into burning buildings!! I’m estimating it’s costing the city 5k a week between my pay and overtime! Let’s hope they stay on idle .
in reply to: Recent Diagnosed Bilateral Pars Fracture with Pain #5925Well hopefully this test works next week . I’m not sure if which way I want this test to go . If it points out if it truly is the pars , my options are limited. If it isn’t the pars and they are not they cause of my pain. My fear is that workmans comp will start hasting me about further tests. Because the calf and leg pain do not coincide with the nerve roots for L3. They are really looking like the Si – l5 bilaterally both calfes. Maybe there are 2 injuries. I really wish workmans comp wasn’t in the picture. If the pars is the culprit and u go the fusion route will I feel the hardware once it in by palpating it?
in reply to: Recent Diagnosed Bilateral Pars Fracture with Pain #5915As Discussed earlier in this forom topic, I’m going for a diagnostic shot in the L3 pars area. They should inject both pars correct? All my injections in the past Facet and Epidural have been in the L5-S1 area and only unilaterally? So only one side is getting the relief. Is that for insurace reasons or the doc was just being very stingy with the meds. My pain in bilaterally so he should have injected both sides of the spine and facets (hopefully this time in the right leverl) I believe this test will only be accurate if the Dr. Injects both sides (I hope). So if this works I can suggest a Pars Block??? or a Radio Frequency Block?? Will Cortisone help or because of nerve endings in the Pannus it won’t and we have to go straight to the Block. ( This popped in my head at rehab today) being an very fit athletic person (which now I’ve gained 20 lbs since inncodent 10/15 would some sort of Steroid or Growth Hormone be instituted to help gain muscle strenth in the core. ( Not looking to look like “meat head bodybuilder”) but to help speed up the strenthing process to get me back to a physical lifestyle .
in reply to: Recent Diagnosed Bilateral Pars Fracture with Pain #5884Doc sorry to bother you again…. Trying to gather up as much info as I could I remember a had an Mri done in 2008 because of a low back strain on my right side. The mri showed some minor disc degeneratcion T2 water not as bright? But no Spondy or Pas mentioned. Is it possible that my symtoms could have been hidding the real cause the spondy and not disc involvment. I went to hospital in another state and obtained the Disc. I’m no trained expert at all (but I should be after all my research with this issue but I see no spondy on those films or the MD makes no notes on the impresssion. Do you think this will make any differnce with my diagnoseses and recovery?
in reply to: Recent Diagnosed Bilateral Pars Fracture with Pain #5864I just called the pain clinic for my notes and from my last 2 injections. on 1/5/11 One was an epidural at the Left L5, which I did get some relief for about 4 hours until the Lidocaine wore off but got no other relef after from the cortizone. The Next was on 2/9/11 where he injected the right Facets L4 L5 and L5-SI. I really did get any from this maybe from the Local abit. Im pretty confused since all my pain is coming from the L3 (Pars Defect). Well maybe they were still thinking disc problems and not pars fracture. But all on the wrong levels?? Confusing. Now does this screw up my changes of getting more injections in future without waiting for months? I am going for as previously mentioned to boston for test injections of just Novacaine in the l3 levels. I wonder if they will through some cortizone in there now they know that the other levels got the drug and not the fracture levels?
thanksChris..
