in reply to: Bone Grpwth Stimulator #22197
Thank you for your response. My father had significant osteoarthritis. My 27 year old son also has osteoarthritis. I guess that is the genetic link.
in reply to: Bone Grpwth Stimulator #22194My spine problems started when I was in my early 20s. The spinal surgeon said that the surgery took longer than expected as the C6-C7 disc space was nearly obliterated due to osteophite formation. The surgeon said that my neck was one of the worse he has seen. I was dx with indifferentiated connective tissue disease 3 years ago. I have osteophite formation throughout my entire spine. Why do some people have significant osteophite formation?
I am taking plaquenil for undifferentiated connective disease. My fusion was done with bone bank graft and a plate. The rheumatologist wants me to continue to use plaquenil but the spinal surgeon wants me to wait as long as possible. How much of a risk dies plaquenil present for a successful fusion?
in reply to: RADICULOPATHY #22120Is it normal to experience spasms by the shoulder blade and down the arm 1 week post 2 Level ACDF? What causes the spasms? Muscle relaxers and heating pads don’t touch the spasms.
in reply to: RADICULOPATHY #22110I did not have Bmp. A drain was not inserted. When the Dr. called the ER, an UF doctor and ENT were both involved. I had a swallow study and endoscopy prior to the second surgery. They did not show any damage. An ENT and my spine surgeon both did the second proceedure. The ENT did not see any evidence if damage to the esophagus. I was NPO and had a nasogastric tube for 4 days followed by clear liquids for a day as a precaution in case there was a micro tear that was not evident. I had a second swallow study when the tube was removed which was also normal
