in reply to: Post Fusion- Leg #31379
Spoke with doctor- they want to get a CT scan and updated MRI, they think now that it may be that I’m not fussing or a screen is loose etc. Also they said I may just have nerve damage , all fun.
in reply to: Post Fusion- Leg #31366Hi Dr, in a prior post in this thread when I asked if the BMP irritation can go away on it’s own without a cortisone show you responded with:
“The inflammation can subside on it’s own but that is not an absolute. If this is a result of BMP, I would want to be somewhat aggressive in reducing the inflammation.”Two questions I have for you is:
1)If i get some shots (you mentioned at least 2 to coat the nerve) would that be a fix or just some short term relief
2) If it is a fix if there a window to get these, if I wait too long will I no longer be able to get the same benefit from them?
3)lastly when you say it isn’t an absolute -what did you mean?in reply to: Post Fusion- Leg #31294Update here- met with my surgeon, he seemed to think everything would get better. Right leg is feeling much better but left leg is getting worse every week. Did some light hamstring stretching the other day and am still in pain down my leg from it. Surgeon does not want me to get a cortisone shot and says it will disrupt the fusion for months and wants me to wait it out. Not fun at all and very upsetting, he is regarded as one of the best surgeons in the world at NYC’s top hospital for surgery. Any advice ?
in reply to: Post Fusion- Leg #31190Great thanks I’m probably 4 weeks in to them getting worse so this should be fun. Does it ever go away on its own or is a steroid injection the only option?
in reply to: Post Fusion- Leg #31178finished up the steroid pack, pain is actually worse but got an appointment with my Dr finally for next week. I will say it seems that the more I walk and go to work and sit/stand the worse the pain get cumulatively. I am following the strictest BLT too.
Should I be concerned the pain is getting worse and not better or is this somewhat normal in your experience.
Also I will be lobbying hard for a TFESI.
in reply to: Post Fusion- Leg #31144Spoke to my doctor (more the PA) they don’t want me to get an TFESI because they say I have had too much steroids in my system as I am on my 2nd Medrol pack in the last month. I don’t want to go against their advice but my pain management Dr doesn’t agree and says that’s not really true. All I know is I am in pain and want it to go away.
