I take Leflunomide for RA. My rheumatologist says this won’t effect the fusion. I have little faith in her as she also claims NSAIDS won’t effect fusion. I refuse to take any NSAIDS now, but what about Leflunomide?
Also, I found a PT that uses the David Spine Concept. Would this be a good course?
in reply to: ACDF C6-C7 follow up #32449Dear doctor
I am now 8 weeks post acdf with peek cage/ self tapping screws/ no plate and no collar. When trying to extend, it feels like something is poking in the vertebrae. Afterwards I have a burning feeling for around 15 minutes.
Will this go away on its own? Should I ask for a scan (which one) or what questions should I ask my surgeon? He is hard to get a hold of, so I want to make the most use of it when I get to speak to him. Many thanks

Whenever I extend my neck, I feel as if a lump is in my vertebrae. And I immediately feel pain building up. And I’m only slightly looking up, not staring at the sky. The pain lasts for minutes afterwards.
What could this be?
Should I wait to extend my neck until it’s healed in?
I’m waiting for my surgeon to call me back. Should I ask for further scans? If so, which one? Thanks in advance.
Oswaldin reply to: ACDF C6-C7 follow up #32355A peek cage was used with 2 screws in c6 and 1 in c7.
The surgeon decided not to use a plate.
Bone scrapings from the fused vertebrae were used in the cage. Here are some pictures of the other discs and the peek cage with screws. The screw in c7 looks a bit long to me.
