in reply to: 16kg deadlift 12 weeks after MD op #36336
Sorry to hear this. This is all too common and presents so often in the clinic. Considering you’ve had surgery, the best thing to do is to have an updated mri and see what’s going on. Good luck
in reply to: BMP safety #34148Hi Doc,
I had the surgery last week and all went very well. I managed to get a full reduction with no traction neuropraxia and my surgeon managed to use the BMP with the cancellous bone chips and DBM.
What I wanted to know, as I can’t find any research about it – is can I start taking my vitamin D and K2 supplements now, as I am concerned if that will interfere with the BMP. My main concern is ectopic bone growth – and want to avoid that at all costs.
I also take magnesium and vitamin c
Thank you
in reply to: BMP safety #34128Just to confirm – I had a left hemi laminectomy at the original surgery to decompress the left L5 nerve root
in reply to: BMP safety #34127Hi Dr,
Thanks for your reply. The main goal here is to stabilise the spine (my spongy slip has reoccured unfortunately) – I am starting to get some residual L5 dermatomal pain but it feels more neuroinflammatory vs nerve root compression – I dont have any motor dysfunction – the L5 exiting roots were fully decompressed at the original surgery
My obvious concern is the risk from BMP – but my surgeon is using an extremely low dose along with the DBM and Cancellous bone chips.
Do you use BMP in your PLF fusions?
in reply to: Pedicle screw problems #33505Hi Dr,
Greatly appreciate your reply.
I’ve recently had a CT and my surgeon wants to give it another 3 months. After that we will CT and X Ray to make sure all is fully fused and will then process with the hardware removal.
The ALIF cage has 3 internal screws also, so that is pretty solid itself.
Thank you again sir.
Regards
