To be honest Im so confuse as well because I had 2 MRI done prior to this microdiscectomy surgery and both mention L4-5 but this doctor only did surgery on L4 so I guess he forgot about the 5. Im 35 years old, I used to work out every day, eat healthy. Now after 4 months post op I was sent for Physical therapy 3 times x week and the pain is killing me

Hi, I had a microdiscectomy done on 3/14/2016 after 4 month’s on Therapy due to a car accident. The symptoms I had before my surgery was lower stabbing back pain that radiated all the way down to my left ankle, numbness in my left tight and arm as well, severe headaches and I was really forgetful for some reason I was also having incontinence issues. Now Im havin similar symptoms and new ones as well as a post op, Im been feeling a burning sensation that goes all the way up thru my spine into the mid back, electricity feelings in both of my legs, I cant stretch up my legs as part od PT that Im taking at this moment, and I cant sit straight for more than 20 minutes otherwise I will be diying in this new coccyx awful pain that doesnt allow me to stand up even if Im resting in bed for long periods will feel this pain. My doctor send me for a new MRI one w contrast and w out, and amazingly the first conclusion words were exactly the same diagnosis I had prior to surgery spinal stenosis, neural encroachment and a disk herniation on L4-5. As well as new findings like a lot of granulated tissue, radial tear, ligamentum flavum hypertrophy and bilateral facet hypertrophy and a severe impingment over the tight lateral recess.
