Hi Dr. Coreman, I was just following up from the post above that I’m still having 6-7 pain lying down on a couch (rt lower back, hip, buttocks, back of thigh) and lower back pain/pressure preventing me from walking much at almost 6 weeks out. Is this unusual or what could be causing this?

Thank you very much for your consideration and input.

Following up- now 5 wk post op.

Symptoms seem the same: Less pain in morning, but escalates from 3-6/7 nightly just form lying down o the couch (pillow under knees). Walking is still limited to 1-2 min durations with an increasing dull pointed pain/pressure slightly above the rt hip near/at the level of surgery (L4/L5). In the first few days prior to flare up I was able to walk freely unrestricted. Ability to sleep has improved and I am on my third week of PT now and have no difficulty doing any PT exercises. I expressed concern and surgeons office said this could be normal. Personally, I am starting to get nervous- what are your thoughts for these symptoms 5 weeks out?

Prior to surgery my chief complaint was sitting intolerance form rt buttocks (instant pressure every time sitting limited to 30-60 min durations tolerated) and latter developed to severe rt foot pain walking short distances which led to surgery. The sitting pain is the same if not worse and I have developed this new lower back pain preventing walking and lying down. What are your thoughts Dr.?

After a week and the steroid pack pain and inflammation has dropped to the tolerable 3-6 range (no pain medicine needed). PT has started. I still have dull achy pain near the surgical site (L4/L5 location) when I lie down and difficulty walking even short distances without similar pain from the same location. Buttocks and foot pain has all but diminished. Is this something to be concerned about or normal? Before the flare up I had no issues walking (Days 3-9 post op)
