in reply to: 12 weeks after 2nd l5s1 discectomy #35674
Thanks for the quick response. When you say “third disc herniation pending” do you mean its inevitable or basically tennis and golf are risky so give them up to avoid a potential third herniation? Thanks
in reply to: 12 weeks after 2nd l5s1 discectomy #35669Hi. Its now been a year since my surgery which was for a recurrent herniation of the l5s1 disc. Feel pretty good. Have done PT once a week for the year. One on one with PT. The one thing that has not gone away is the muscle twitching in lower leg/calf. Also will get sudden calf cramp. The twitching does not hurt. My concern is that is a sign that something is not right with my disc and that I shouls continue to avoid things tennis or golf? Am I being too paranoid?
in reply to: L5 s1 microdiscectomy #35459Do you think that the tingling and twitching is sign that im still not strong enough to ski or that there is still something touching nerve. I dont have any pain. Im assuming the risk of injury is lower the better shape Im in?
in reply to: L5 s1 microdiscectomy #35451Hi. Thank you for reply. I have not been weight lifting. PT is a fellow of applied functional science. Exercises have been focused on pelvis and mainly loaded isometrics. My main sports used to be tennis golf and skiing. Im very concerned about skiing again. Do you think if get back into good shape that is in the cards. I can tolerate the tingling. Was concerned sign that something is wrong or weakness. This forum has been the best resource I have found! Thank you!
in reply to: 12 weeks after 2nd l5s1 discectomy #35271Thank you very much for replying to my question. This forum has been very helpful. As long as pain is low do recommend walking and PT or should I rest. Also Ive thought about trying to get steriod pack to see of that helps. I have noticed dull pain in back and sometimes in hamstring after been standing which is new the last week. Nothing as bad as before surgery. Im so gun shy and concerned about doing anything that could make things worse. Thank you.
