Yes, Dr Corenman, I was referred to him by the Sports Doctor Ive been seeing. He “specialises in hip and knee surgery, with a special interest in computer navigation…. He is also fellowship trained in spine surgery, complementing his ability to treat leg pain.”

I will try to get a third opinion, will need to speak to my general practitioner.

I really do appreciate your time taken to respond.
    Thank you for your advice.

    Hi Dr Corenman.

Sorry for not getting back sooner, I saw a new orthopaedic surgeon who carried out a partial meniscectomy a few weeks ago for me after a fall injury. I spoke to him about my spine and he said, same as the previous surgeon that he coukd not operate. I asked him “why?” His response was that, “it would make things worse”. He has written to the sports doctor for me to try steroid injections into the facets. I haven’t booked them yet due to wanting to get over the knee surgery. I dont think they would help with the far lateral nerve root pain anyway?

Im just disappointed that after seeing two surgeons neither are able or willing to help. I guess I best get used to living with pain. :(

    Thanks for your help.

Thank you Dr Corenman. I will be seeking a second opinion from a new surgeon shortly once my sports doctor refers me in a couple of days time and I will use your pain questionaire to relay my pain appropriately and I will ask questions relating to potential stenosis and the pars issues as well as my Transitional level coming into play.
I will let you know of the outcome.
Thanks for your valuable insight and help. Your site is a wonderful resource.
    Kind regards :)

Oh and also if the annular tears are anterior can they be causing pain. I do have some milder pain at higher levels.

I just generally hurt all the time from my bra level down to my knee, but its more intense around lower lumbar spine especially through the buttock hip and down just past the knee. It can be very miserable especially with prolonged activity.

The xrays from 2015 are here.
    Xrays
Is it possible that I have healed pars fractures considering the sclerosis/hypertrophy.
My pain is aching pain across the lower back with deep gnawing pain through the buttock and hip which radiates down my leg around the front of my knee.
If i flex and arch my back with my hips i get sharp pain in the back, and I can get electric shock type pain that shoots up my spine that makes me squeal. My pain is worst at night. Its gnawing dragging down the leg and relentless. In the morning i ache and cant stay in bed i have to move to get to more comfortable levels. I have on occasion had my leg give way. When i get into the car there is loading and unloading of the spine pain that makes me groan.
    I have pain 24/7.

Do i need to bring up why the LSTV was not mentioned?
Are the levels numbered wrong on his report??

Thank you Dr Corenman I really do appreciate your time.

Thank you for a speedy response. Which bones do you think might be fused? I have an LSTV with Lumbarised S1, so would it be S1, Transitional L5 and L4? What about the fractured pars pedicle would that be removed during fusion?
Thank you for your advice it is very much appreciated. I will start to do my homework and look for another surgeon. :)
