The surgery IS happening. Scheduled for Tuesday. I was just curious how long until I noticed strength return to bicep/tricep. Like weeks or months?

I’m glad to hear it comes back.

    Thank you!

Thanks Doctor. The weakness in my tricep (left) is getting more noticeable, I can’t do a push up or a tricep dip at this point. Also notice it when pushing a door open. How quickly does strength return following decompression?

I’m a little nervous about permanent weakness or damage. I was only having c5-6 symptoms early on, but now the C6-7 seems to be presenting stronger, hence the double ADR versus original single diagnosis.

So I received a second opinion. That opinion was that in addition to C5-6, I also do C6-7 based on additional (new) arm, finger, chest sensation. Long story short, both doctors have spoken, and I will get a 2 level ADR.

The surgeon said it’s not a materially more complicated surgery, and recovery is almost the same as single level.

What are your thoughts on 2 level ADR?

Doctor, I had my second epidural today. Will keep this group posted. But I’m doing the pre-op paperwork just in case.

Question for you, the ADR (which I believe I’d choose) is being discussed for C5-6. Reading the MRI I pasted in the first post it mentions “moderate severe left and mild right C5-6 foraminal narrowing.” – is that the smoking gun for left sided shoulder, scapula pain?

There are lots of other references to smaller, milder issues at other heights, too.

    Thanks you.

Hello Doctor, and thank you. Confirming all pain/discomfort is left sided. The epidural felt “OK” the day of, and maybe the day after. But I don’t recall having complete relief for any duration.

    Dr. Corenman,

I just want to thank you for your support and guidance during what was probably one of the hardest few months of my life after being diagnosed with discitis and mild osteomyelitis. I had a great surgeon and infectious disease doc, but having this forum to sound things out on was a tremendous help. You gave your opinion and knowledge to me over several posts.

You must spend a not insignificant amount of time on this endeavor, and it is much appreciated.

I stated PT last week and went to the gym today for the first time in 7 months.

    Thanks again!
