in reply to: MRI Result, please advise, do I need surgery? #35215
How long before a nerve dies and cannot be returned to normal please Sir? I’m scared they will leave me and never decompress the nerve in my neck. 8 years ago they refused to operate on my lumbar for numb feet, even though scan proved compression and neurologist said it is lumbar spine causing the numbness.
in reply to: MRI Result, please advise, do I need surgery? #35208Well, I have seen a Neurosurgeon today at Hull. I am disgusted with him. He will not operate to relieve pressure on nerve. Told me to just leave it and see if it makes itself better. He said we will do nerve conduction studies on both arms. He started talking about he thinks it is Diabetic Polyneuropathy. I said no! We have the scan to prove what it is. It is spinal nerve compression. It was sudden onset. I just feel they are inventing things that are not true so they don’t have to operate. Very annoyed with them and I will be putting a complaint in. Thank you for your help on here Sir.

in reply to: MRI Result, please advise, do I need surgery? #35193I got a copy of my GPs letter today, that A&E send them.
It says, “The report shows that the disc between C5 & C6 is protruding into the spinal canal but not compressing the cord. Her case was discussed with Neurosurgeons at Hull who are due to see her in outpatients routinely. Discharged back to your care now we have ruled out surgical emergency but would be grateful if you could chase the date of the Neurosurgical OPD for her as it has clearly caused her a great deal of consternation already.”
Before they told me it was C6 C7 at fault. I wish they wouldn’t keep telling me different things.
in reply to: MRI Result, please advise, do I need surgery? #35192Today I have my little finger twitching and pulling to the outer side so I think my Ulnar nerve must be pinched. I have emailed PALS at the hospital to ask them to get me in sooner. All they have given me so far is an appointment for 17th August to go see the neurosurgeon, then I bet it will be months waiting for surgery. Not good enough, they need to act fast.
