It has been almost 9 months since my daughters L4-L5-S1 fusion and she is doing well. X Rays show bones fusing and she is pain free. PT really helper her get her muscles back in shape. Lost a little motion ability but overall, the operation has been success.
in reply to: Recent Spondyloptosis diagnosis #34209My daughter had the surgery on 6/30 and is currently about 4 weeks out. Dr Frank performed the 8 hour operation at Rush University Hospital in Chicago. First week in hospital was rough but she is doing better and moving around in a brace. They were able to pull the slip back 75% and fuse L4-L5 and L5-S1. SHe does have a little numbness in her left leg and slightly week big toe on left foot but overall, no other issues and nerve pain is gone. In case anyone needs a spondylolisthesis surgeon or has a deformity issue.
in reply to: Recent Spondyloptosis diagnosis #34061Hello Dr. Corenman
It has been 7 months since my last message to you and we now have a surgery scheduled with Dr Frank Phillips at Midwest Orthopeadics at Rush in Chicago for end of June 2021. He is going to do a 2 level spine fusion from the back of L4-L5-S1. He said not likely to pull it all the way back but looking to stabilize the spine and clear out the nerve root that is causing my daughter pain. We are very nervous about this operation but realize it is necessary. Just wanted to ask you if you have heard of Dr Phillips or Midwest Ortho in Chicago – any professional insight? and also ask why you stopped doing Spondylolisthesis surgery on slips greater than 50%? Did you have a lot of problems with the outcomes of high grade slips surgery? Any insight is appreciated.
