Dear dr. Coremman,
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I am not surre how to answer your questions. One of my family members had spondylosis, (older relative) if that contributed to my spondylolisthesis I am not surre. I can remembre a day when I bent forward, felt my back crack, had a sharp pain and paid no atention to it. Ever since the diagnosis, I feel (if I move in a certain way), muscle spasms, they come unexpectedly which terrifies me because they make me almost fall. It is not the pain that terrifies me but the sudden spasms.
As far as the fusion is concerned, one of my friends had a fusion when she was 40 and another now at 70. I guess it just makes me feel uneasy to have screws and rods in my back. Would it still be advisable to do a fusion for isthmic spondylolisthesis grade 1?
Can people with spondylolisthesis have a normal birth and have an epidural? How close are we from stem cell treatments for spondy?
Another thing that happens with me is my back jets very stiff if I walk for more than 2 hours which really upsets me because I am a very ative person. Would pilates and yoga stop the spasms?
Thank you once again for taking the time to read my message.
Kindest regards,
Alexandra
