Delaying or avoiding surgical treatment depends upon the severity of the compression of the cord on MRI and the symptoms that you exhibit compared to the physical examination.

I can’t easily answer the question regarding the need or lack of need of surgery based upon verbal descriptions. A thorough history, physical examination, a personal evaluation of your images and any testing are required to fully evaluate the need for surgery.
