Sir , my disc has reptured (c5-c6)badly now drs advised me for surgery.but they said that there are two options for you for surgery .one is disc fusion second is disc replacement. Sir i am a professional power lifter . And i want to continue my lifting after the surgery also .. sir plzz advise me which one option will better for me . Disc fusion or disc replacement
First, the level involved has to be a candidate for disc replacement. That means, pain needs to be much more radicular (shoulder/arm pain) than neck pain. There cannot be any instability (slip) on flexion/extension X-rays and the disc height cannot be greater than a loss of 50%. If your neck meets that criteria, then an artificial disc should be OK. I assume you don’t do headstands or engage in dangerous (downhill mountain biking) or contact sports.

If not then when i can start my powerlifting training.
Triceps weakness generally is associated with a C6-7 (C7 nerve root) herniation so I an unclear why a C5-6 herniation would cause triceps weakness.
If you need an ACDF, you could be back powerlifting in 8-10 weeks if you use your own graft.
