If you are almost one year out from your L5-S1 TLIF and you continue with pain, the typical differential would be either pseudoarthrosis (lack of fusion) or adjacent level breakdown. The next step would be a new MRI and CT scan with X-rays.

My last appointment was at the Steadman Clinic before you left and the fusion had taken. The CT scan was performed May 11 at Vail Health and I had an MRI probably just a month or a couple weeks before my appointment due to problems I was having in physical therapy. Can you recommend a physician in Utah or would you recommend me continue to go to Steadman where all my records are located? I am in a depressed state having to start over with this process and not having the success that was anticipated.

    Thanks again Dr. Corenman.

I cannot give your guidance as to whether you should stay in Utah or go back to the Clinic. If you choose to stay in Utah, there is a good surgeon (Dr. Darrel Brodky) at the University of Utah. You will need a new CT scan and MRI to determine your next pathway.
