    Dr. Corenman,

    I saw a surgeon and he suggested i have an EMT done after i described tingling and numbness on my left arm/hand, he thinks there might also be carpal tendon syndrome.

    What do you think.

    Correction, EMG not EMT

    An EMG will be helpful if there is peripheral nerve entrapment (carpel tunnel syndrome) but probably will not help with cervical nerve root compression unless you have significant weakness. Still, an acceptable test.
