This hook procedure I learned 25 years ago when doing scoliosis and fracture work (before pedicle screws were invented). There still are some instrument sets that have hooks and I have them available for every case even though I use them only 1-2 times/year. These are simple devices that “grab hold” by placing a hook over the lamina. I have not written about these but look up early scoliosis hook procedures and I am sure there are pictures of hook placements.

Thank you. Right now it’s a mute point as I can’t even get in with this doc until January for surgery. I was hoping to do it as my deductible has been met. I guess everyone is thinking the same thing… What if I do nothing and just deal with it. Is there any danger given my situation. Feeling frustrated. Thanks much!

There is no real danger waiting. You might have hardware breakage but that is unlikely and still can be dealt with if you pursue further surgery.
