I have facial numbness on left side of head. Behind eye. Ear. Very irritating. Brain fog. Memory problems. Like the left side is asleep and the right side is awake. Very confusing. I went to a neurologist and he ordered an mri and cat scan and he said there is nothing wrong. I had a mri or cat scan before and my spine has pinched nerves. Degreneration. Arthritic. When I bend my neck back and to the left I can feel it in my shoulder blade area and down the left side arm. Can it be pinched nerves in my neck causing the headaches, numbness, and stuff only on left side of head? Im rasing two daughters all alone and this causes lots of problems. Depression. All I want to do is sleep. No tyenol, alieve or ibupropen does nothing. I researched cervical plexus blocks and ultrasound. Pinched nerves. thoracic outlet syndrome etc…..And what specialist should I see that wont stop trying to help me. I get the feeling that doctors are ignorant or think im making this up. I started feeling this about 12 years ago. Im 40 now. Its getting worse. Squating 600 pounds is probably what caused the problems. I don’t think God designed my neck and spine area to hold a 2 inch bar with 600 pounds compression my spine and I only weighed 200 pounds.
Headaches can be caused by many different disorders and the upper facets of the cervical spine can be the cause of one of them. You can see a pain doctor (PM&R or anesthesia) to determine if these are causing your headaches.
The neck pain radiating down to your shoulder with your head in extension and lateral bending (“When I bend my neck back and to the left I can feel it in my shoulder blade area and down the left side arm”) is typical for foraminal stenosis. See the section on cervical radiculopathy for further understanding.
Squatting with weights is a very common exercise to compress the cervical and lumbar spines and cause premature degeneration.
