The quality of the anesthesiologist is important. Some are better at “blocks”-numbing injections that are needed in orthopaedic extremity surgery and some are better at general anesthesia (putting the patient to sleep and monitoring them). Some pay great attention and some might not as much. There are subtle ways that a better anesthesiologist makes the patient feel better post-operatively. You have to depend upon the surgeon and hospital to make sure the anesthesiologist is acceptable.
