I had an anterior C-5 C-6 fusion with hardware and donor bone this past May. I was officially discharged after my last post op about 6 weeks ago. Flex extension X-rays show that a solid fusion did occur. Is it ok the have deep tissue massages?

At six weeks out with donor bone, I would wait another six weeks to have a massage. That assumes there is a solid fusion. Now you can have a massage if the therapist stays away from massaging the neck and shoulders and does no range of motion stretches.

My surgery was May 2016, 8 months ago. Would deep tissue massage be ok 8 months post op with flex X-rays showing that fusion has occurred?

With 8 months and a one-level solid fusion, you can treat your neck like you did not have surgery.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I realized that I misposted in the original post. It should have read C5-6, C6-7. Could I still proceed as if I didn’t have the fusion I am 8 months post op a a two level anterior fusion. Flex extension X-rays show a solid fusion.

If you have a solid fusion at two levels, I don’t have an issue with massage.
