I’m a 30 year old female. I was in 2 car accidents, 3 days apart last year. I was diagnosed with whiplash but dismissed it, as I thought it would get better with time and I didn’t have the time in my schedule to go to PT 3 days a week, being it so close to the holidays and I’m a pet Groomer. Groomers don’t get sick as they say on the grooming world. A couple of months ago I pulled a muscle in my neck from stretching. It was so painful I could barely move and caused me to miss time from work. I decided to go to a chiropractor who, after taking xrays, informed me I still had whiplash and DDD. My question is, can you look at my xrays and tell me if I should be concerned and if I should see a specialist? Also I am wondering if I need to cut back my grooming schedule or find a different job that’s not so physically demanding since it is becoming harder for me to do my daily activities? Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Whiplash is not a very good term for a description of an injury. The term whiplash describes the forces that caused the injury but does nothing to determine the pain generator. Localized neck pain can originate from the disc or the facet. Your pain description could be from either structure.
Unfortunately, I don’t have at this time the ability to review images and point you in the right direction. If you are considering a new line of work due to your neck pain, it is time to go visit a spine surgeon who is careful with diagnosis and can refer you to the right pain management physician.
