The Gluteus Medius is L5 innervated. Glut Max is mainly S1 but does have some L5.

I ended up in the ER last night because I am not really able to have a good bowel movement and ended up over filled. I got that problem taken care of temporarily but I feel like I have no strength to push out a BM. Is this common? And is it best treated with a laxative and stool softener.

The bowels can get “plugged up” (constipated) by narcotic medications and lack of exercise. If you are on narcotic medications, you must use a stool softener and if this does not work, a laxative.

Sounds good. I am not on any narcotics currently. It just feels like I don’t have the strength to get anything pushed out but I will definitely try a stool stofener.

I am once again on day 2 of no successful BMs. It feels like I have lost the strength to bear down. My doctors say that my MRI doesn’t show any damage to the caudal equina area however I really don’t know how I am going to have a BM and this has slowly been worsening over the last 3 weeks. I am now on a stool softener and miralax. However I am curious if you have ever seen anything like that. Also my urge to urinate is much more frequent.
