    Dr. Corenman,

I was wondering when it is safe to have a epidural steroid injection? I had my ACDF surgery on January 11th of 2018 for one level. I’m not sure if I’m fusing or not? Surgeon said I’m showing some signs of fusing. I would like to get a epidural steroid injection to help with trap and neck muscle pain.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

You can get an epidural injection anytime after an ACDF. You are now 8 months out which is certainly safe. I would hope that the nerve root was decompressed and is recovering so this begs the question “did you have relief from the surgery for your nerve pain”?
