Hi Doc- I have a 3.0 x 1.1 x .9cm cervical synovial cyst in my C4-C6 facet on the right side (and a large Tarlov cyst below it C6-C7). I have had 3 MRI’s (I can send to you). I have considerable pain in the right area of my neck, right shoulder and weakness forming in my right arm. I am in major pain & no surgeons want to go near it because no one has seen one before. (I live in San Jose, CA) HELP! Its been 3 months! Thank you!
RuthInteresting in that I have seen (until last week) only two intracanal cervical facet cysts in 30 years. This new patient had a facet cyst displacing the cervical cord. He had no cord symptoms (myelopathy) but had significant nerve pain just like you.
You need to have this removed if it is compressive. The cyst is a result of a degenerative facet at either C4-5 or C5-6. Occasionally, a fusion has to be performed but at least in this gentleman, he will not need a fusion.

Sooooooo, have you done this or do you have a referal in Nor Cal? Thanks doc. Frustrating and scary because I just got over breast cancer. Single mom with young kids with full time job… not sure how much more I can tackle here!
RuthI have taken out the other two cysts I have seen and have scheduled this new patient for a cyst removal. I would be happy to be of service to you if you desire. Call Lori at 888 888-5310 for contact information.
