Membrane stabilizers like Lyrica or Neuronton cant be taken like pain medications “only when you need it”. These medications need to build up in the blood over time and need to be taken every day like clockwork. You should always have blood work to check and make sure your kidneys are processing the medications appropriately.

    Hello Dr. Donald,

Its been a long time since I ask for your consultation for my mother. Until now she is still carrying her suprapubic catheter. Just want to ask if my mother is allowed to use an electric massager just to help her muscles and lessen the feeling of tightness and tingling on her leg to foot due to the effect of cauda equina syndrome?

Please advice us if this can help ease the pain in her legs?

    Thank you

An electric vibrator on the leg can be helpful to temporarily relieve the tightness sensation of the leg. You can also try a TENS unit on that leg under the supervision of a PT or physician.
