First, you need a diagnosis. Vertebra do not “go in and out of place”. All these segments have a certain range of motion that is normal. Degenerative joints lose this normal range.

Manipulation allows more motion by cavitating the joint. This means the manipulation breaks the suction of the joint to allow more range of motion with less compression of the joint surfaces.

Pain could be developing from the joint surfaces due to arthritis but many other structures can refer pain to this area. You first need a diagnosis to determine the pain generator.
