So “lucky” me I have now also some kind of back pain. I have not a MRI done to this new problem, but I have just a lumbar spot that is painful when I press on the bone of the spine. I feel some stabbing and some dull pains in my both buttoks. Those pains are more intensified when I sit in my bed rather than walking. I can bend without any problem. Also after a few days of massage in that painful spot, the pain became more bearable. If some days ago I had problem staying straight on the bed because of the painful sport, right now I can not feel that pain anymore, but I feel some kind of mild stretching pain in my both buttoks. the pain right now is somewhere between 2-3 sometimes a 4. Initially the painful sport on the spine was something like 7 and right now after some days of massage is 1-2. Do you think I should hurry to have an MRI?

New onset lower back pain that is a 2-3 on a visual analog scale does not need an MRI. Local tenderness of the spine, even significant can be simply watched as there are many patients I have seen who had no idea of severe tenderness of their back ligaments or tender “bones” until I pressed on their back. Give these symptoms some time to resolve on their own. If symptoms become more intense, a medication or even a short course of physical therapy could be called for.
