If there is rotation of the neck (the head is not aligned with the spine) when taking an X-ray, the spaces between C1 and C2 will not be equal on an AP (front to back) X-ray. Fracture or ligament injury can also present the same way.

The C1 and C2 vertebrae are the first two vertebrae at the top of the cervical spine. Together they form the atlantoaxial joint, which is a pivot joint. The C1 sits atop and rotates around C2 below. More of the head’s rotational range of motion comes from C1-C2 than any other cervical joint.1
i m talk a bout this joint who respond for more head rotate(i read this also in your website in past ) from c CT SCAN
so my q is to contact ct scan and clinic symptoms and noise and rotation to left to r to r .

Noise from rotation of the neck is most likely due to surface wear of any facet in the neck. It sounds like grit or sandpaper rubbing together and generally is nothing to worry about. I am unclear what your discussion regarding the CT is about.
