    Hello Dr.
I believe that I have Arachnoiditis. When I look at reputable sites (yours, Cleveland Clinic, etc.) I have nearly all of the symptoms ***but the majority of the references are to the legs, feet, buttocks, etc. therefore I am assuming that the majority of cases of Arachnoiditis stems from initial inflammation to the spinal lumbar or lumbarsacral area. All of my issues (except for 2 herniated discs… L3/4 and L4/5 which is black) are cervical in nature. I’ve had 52 yes 52 cervical epidural injections over the course of 10 to 12 years until I finall said enough was enough when some cowboy doctor shoved an 18” 18 gauge needle passed my collar bone in an attempt to inject my C8 nerve root! It felt like an aluminum baseball bat going into my neck. At that point I said NO MORE INJECTIONS!!! More Hx… I have 6 stenosis cervical disc, just about every level. (on MRI) as well as a whole slew of other issues spanning almost 20 years. I have been Dx with DDD, LUPUS, RA, And Sjogrens (all proven with appropriate labs, mri, etc…). I actually have been DX with 6 autoimmune diseases (secondary Addison’s disease, hypogonadism, and autoimmune inner ear disease -again, I have EOB’s, labs, mri’s,etc… for proof.) I am a very very successful full time biotech rep for a large international pharmacy company and I also work as a DJ on weekend. (So I’m not trying to get disability or bamboozal CII’s, thank god I have a compassionate md for that.) I’ve seen everyone from Dr. Jho at AGH to Dr. William Donaldson at UPMC (Pittsburgh). I haven’t had a pain free day in 16 years. Recently and what led me to Arachnoiditis was 5 new symptoms. 1. Bowel and bladder issues. Not dysfunctions but unusual sensations. 2. Same goes for sexual sensations 3. Bizarre and random periphrial neuropathy sensations (back of my hand will feel like pins and needle feeling then an hour later it turns to a sun burn or frost bite feeling then an hour later it feels like it’s wet then 2 hours later it’s ice cold?) 4. Stumbling and balance and 5. Freezing cold toes and the sensation of water running down my calf’s. And just when you thought you’ve heard it all… Oct. 2015 I got Shingles and I lost my right lung (well via sniff test I have a paralyzed right diaphragm)(again documented, Lewis Kline, Pulm. blue Journal.)
So can Arachnoiditis originate in the cervical spine and cause the symptoms to be mostly upper body (arms, hands, shoulders, etc.) vs lower body?

    Thank you

Your symptoms could be from cervical arachnoiditis but that disorder would be unusual, even with 52 cervical injections unless one of those injections went into the dura and the steroid was injected intrathecally-which is possible. More likely, due to your stenosis (“I have 6 stenosis cervical disc, just about every level”), you have myelopathy. See https://neckandback.com/conditions/cervical-central-stenosis-and-myelopathy/.
