Please confirm.
So I would like to know please if the symptoms are the same with or without myelopathy.
Hi Dr.Corneman. It’s being now 1,5 months that I had my c4 – c6 laminectomy. Everything went well however I have developed frontal lobe headache since then and slight fever between 37.0 C to 37.5 C. Is there a possibility that this is a side effect from surgery? My neurosurgeon denies that but I want to hear your opinion. If it matters I had covid the same time I was performed the surgery.
Looking forward for your response.
Thanking you in advance.
Infection from cervical surgery can occur but are exceedingly rare. I am unclear why you would have slight fevers. Frontal headaches can occur from the cervical spine especially if you have degenerative facet disease of the upper 3 vertebra. X-rays including flexion/extension would be my first thought and if suspicious, a CT scan should be considered.

Actually with my very poor knowledge I excessively worry about meningitis or a CSF leak. Is this a possible side effect? Again my neurosurgeon has excluded this possibility.
If you dont have a bulging incision or a leaking incision, you don’t have a dural leak. Meningitis makes an individual very sick. Headaches are part of the picture but you would feel terrible with neck pain and hyper-irritability.
