My uncle is suffering from back pain since the last 7 years that is increasing with each passing day. Initially he resorted to painkillers prescribed by a doctor but after 2 years he stopped having them. He has been recommended by a number of doctors all over California but to no avail. He cannot stand for more than a few minutes. Is his condition treatable? Please help in this regard, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have written a book about back pain that contains about 400 pages and that may not be enough. As you can see, this subject is enormous.

You need to start from the beginning. Read the section under “Conditions”; “How to describe symptoms” to start off.

At least I am content that he is no longer on narcotics as these medications generally do not help lower back pain in the long term.
