Thanks again! Another thing that confuses me is my x-ray results. I had x-rays done two days apart at different places (one was for acute back pain and the other was a surgery follow-up) and one says that I am “Status post left S1 laminotomy” while the other says “The patient is status post left L4 and L5 hemilaminectomies”. Why the difference and what do they mean? I don’t know what any of this means. L5-S1 microdiscectomy is the only surgery I’ve had.

The procedure was an L5-S1 laminotomy. Some radiologists might mistake a partially lumbarized S1 as L5 an misconstrue the levels. Some radologists might mis-dictate and call “L4-5” as “L4 and L5”. It sounds like both occurred in the same dictation.

Interesting. Weird that they would say hemilaminectomies in plural form making it sound like I had two surgeries. Thanks again!
