I am 19 yrs old and have been suffering from severe chronic thoracic spine pain w/ radiculopathy along the ribs for 16 months. I have failed all conservative treatments and recently went back to a neurosurgeon for another consult. I have an HNP at T7-8 but the most recent MRI showed a new protrusion arising from the vertebral body at T8-9, but the the doctor said he had never seen anything like it before. Have you ever seen anything like this on MRI or have any ideas what it could be?
Thank you
Chronic thoracic pain in a 19 year old always brings up the possibility of Scheuermann’s disorder (see website). Herniated discs are a part of this disorder. It is a relatively common disorder.

I suffered many severe horse back riding injuries and fractured my T8 vertebrae riding. But it wasn’t until an orthopedic exam (where the doctor pushed WAY too hard on my back did the pain really begin)What’s the best way to upload the image so you can view it? I’m new at this and I’m not sure how to get it in a format so you can see it.
Images are best delivered by FedEx to my office where I can peruse them at my computer. A previous T8 fracture can cause post fracture kyphosis (mal-alignment) among other problems.
