Two guide pins are then position parallel to one another and used to align the upper and lower discs. Preparation of the disc space is essential.
Once the disc space is established a trial is done to determine the perfect fit for the artificial disc replacement. An ingenious router is then placed within the disc to create a saucer shaped compressions to fit the artificial disc. The artificial disc is then inserted and ingrowth begins between the two vertebra and the device.
