Hello Doctor,
I recently had a bilateral hemi-laminectomy at L4-L5 due to stenosis at that level. My symptoms were low back pain, sciatica, nerve pain in the feet and ankles, but the worst part was weakness in my legs. Note that it was 4 months from when symptoms started to the time I could have surgery.
The day of surgery all symptoms were gone and that continued on days 2-5. Gradually all symptoms started to return over the next 1-2 weeks. Especially the leg weakness. My surgeon says this is likely due to post surgical inflammation. I have taken 2 rounds of steroids that have not helped much. I am told to be patient and thst it takes time for healing and inflammation to decrease.
I am very concerned that the surgery was not a success and I will be stuck with this pain and weakness.
Have you seen this before? If so, what are your thoughts?
