Been having problem with pain and inflammation at thumb. Been looking for answers for awhile but haven’t been able to pin point any specific problem.
I get pain inflammation/swelling at base of thumb move to tip and over to index finger happens to both hands left more than right. it can be once a week to once a month it varies. It is usually worst at night. The pain and inflamation can last a day to a week.
i am wondering if this is coming from my neck.Gone to arthritis doctor she can’t find anything.
Been having neck and back pain for awhile.MRi
At C3-4 there is small right neuroforaminal disc protrusion. At C5-6 there is small central disc protrusion measuring about 2 mm..EMG
on right hand/arm Right Ulnar Neuropathy around the elbow with early distal Axonal Involvement, Mild right CTS and Sub acute R C6 radiculopathy.Unlikely it is coming from your neck. The thumb and index finger are connected to the median nerve (carpel tunnel syndrome-CTS) and the C6 nerve (C5-6 foramen). MRI does not note root compression on either side and you have only “mild” CTS on the right only. You could have an inflammatory or degenerative arthritic disorder. Inflammatory labs and X-rays of the hand would be next to consider.

I had lab work and hand and knee X-ray done by arthritic doctor everything was negative
The EMG test was only on right side
What does subacute c6 radiculqpathy means? Doesn’t that mean their is nerve root issue?
The EMG test is one month old the MRI is 3 year old.I read the c6 nerve goes to the thumb. Are saying it stop at the wrist on thumb side
