    Hi doctor,

    I have a spine problem: spondylolisthesis l5/s1 grade 2.
I saw a neurosurgeon NY who said that i need a surgery that includes : L5-S1 laminectomy + stabilization the spine with titanium screws and rods (L4-ilium fixation-fusion).
the problem began 4 years ago, i tried non-surgical treatments but it doesn’t work, i have pain all time, i can’t walk more than 30 minutes and not standing more than 15min after that i had a pain. I don’t have pain in my legs.

in your opinion , that is the surgery that i need?

    Thank you

The information regarding type of fusion is confusing. A laminectomy (called a Gill procedure in this situation) is appropriate. The fusion part is confusing. Why does he want to fuse both L4-5 and L5-S1? Is L4-5 very degenerative or is he not planning to add a TLIF (see website) to the fusion and needs to add L4-5 to create a longer level arm.

My opinion with this limited information would be to just fuse L5-S1 with a TLIF unless L4-5 is so degenerative that it could not stand alone to support the spine when L5-S1 is fused.
