I am almost 9 weeks from my posterior cervical decompression & fusion of c2c3c4. Maybe 4 times a day I get a sharp muscle pain in my upper arm. Doesn’t last but just a minute. Sometimes in the shoulder joint.
If I don’t use my arms a lot then I don’t get this muscle pain. If I push a grocery cart even a little I do get some pain across the top of my shoulders to but not a lot. Also my neck feels stiff at times. Maybe all this is normal healing?
I do have arthritis in all my joint and have been off of celebrex for 11 weeks and all my joints are hurting. Also a lot of arthritis in all of my neck.
I see my neuro the 28th of April and hoping the fusion has started so I can go on celebrex. Thank you again. Carolns

Posterior cervical decompression and fusion surgery takes about three months to heal solidly (and occasionally longer).

There is some concern that Celebrex can slow down bone healing so your surgeon was spot on.

If he or she thinks that there is solid healing, a flexion/extension X-ray will be performed and there should be evidence of bone crossing the facets and no motion of these segments should be noted.
