I’ve had horrible neck pain and headaches for years… I have a great GP, who’s awesome when it comes to GP kind of stuff.. After my latest MRI showing how much worse I’ve gotten the last couple years, she doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to find me a referral for a specialist, so I’m trying to contact local specialists on my own. But I’m
Not sure WHAT kind of specialist I should contact… and also, am I crazy for thinking this looks yucky? Ha!
    IMPRESSION:
    1. C6-7 diffuse disc bulge. Hypertrophic uncovertebral degenerative
changes on the right. Broad-based central to right foraminal disc
herniation. Hypertrophic uncovertebral degenerative changes on the
right. Severe neural foraminal narrowing on the right the left neural
foramen is patent. Mild canal stenosis.
    2. C5-6 diffuse disc bulge with small left foraminal disc extrusion.
Reactive osteophytic spurring. Bilateral hypertrophic uncovertebral
degenerative changes. Mild hypertrophic facet osteoarthrosis. Mild
bilateral neural foraminal stenosis. Degenerative endplate
irregularities and type 1 signal changes.
    3. C4-5 mild hypertrophic facet osteoarthrosis. Mild bilateral neural
foraminal stenosis. There is no significant canal stenosis. Mild
    bilateral neural foraminal stenosis.
    4. C3-4 mild disc bulge. Mild hypertrophic facet osteoarthrosis.

    Thank you very much.

Neck pain without shoulder pain but associated with headaches (in the back of the skull and not forehead or temple headaches) can be associated with disc or facet disease and occasionally nerve root compression. Headaches generated from the cervical spine are commonly associated with upper cervical facet degeneration as noted at C3-4 (“Mild hypertrophic facet osteoarthrosis”).

You have significant bone spur formation in your right C6-7 foramen (” Hypertrophic uncovertebral degenerative changes on the right. Severe neural foraminal narrowing on the right”) which can cause lower neck pain especially if it is more right sided.

I think you should start by looking for a pain specialist for diagnostic and therapeutic injections. Take your time finding someone who is good.
