In general, lumbar fusions take between 5 months and one year to mature. It depends upon the technique and if BMP (bone morphogenic protein) is used.
Jet skiing is a risky proposition in the face of an immature fusion. This is not because of the exposure to some vibration from the Jet Ski but to the constant “banging” of the ski on wakes and to the possibility of falling off and torqueing the back upon impact.
I would recommend waiting until the fusion has some maturity (5 months).
