An x-ray tech is trying to tell me that having one disk replaced will weaken the adjoining disks causing a domino effect and requiring additional surgeries. Is there any truth to this?

Consider the source. An X-ray tech is not trained to fully understand the spine. He or she is simply trained to take and develop X-rays. With rare exceptions, there is generally no truth to that statement.
