Headache, Dizziness, blurred vision, balance problems, slurred speech, nausea, pressure in head at back of skull are my current symptoms. All symptoms have become progressively worse over the years. Some symptoms are no longer manageable.

MRI shows herniation at C5-C6 and surgery was recomended. MRI also showed distended cerebellar tonsils but doc nentioned it was not of importance. Should I confirm it isn’t Chiari before jumping into the hernia surgery?

Without a doubt, Chiari malformation needs to be evaluated. The C5-6 disc hernation generally does not cause upper neck/skull symptoms. Look up Bowhunter’s syndrome or Wallenberg’s syndrome for more information. I have produced a Bowhunter’s video but have not yet addressed Wallenbergs’s syndrome.
