    Hi,

I had a discectomy twice in year 2014 at the L5S1 level. One in August and the last one in October 2014.

Currently I have having buttock pain, leg pulling and tightness while I sit and laying on bed. Walking and standing I don’t feel the pain.

After the surgery I had pain relief and my leg strength is getting better. About December 2014 the leg discomfort began while sitting and laying on bed began and is getting worse now.

When i had follow up with my surgeon in January 2015 my surgeon order another MRI scan and NCV/EMG/SSEP.

The NCV/SSEP/EMG shows normal. MRI shows granulation tissue with no re herniated.

After my discectomy and rhizolysis in October 2014 I continue with my physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. My parents bought me cycling bike and track mill for me. i have been using those equipment everyday with the tens unit and I am depending on the pain medications.

I lost my Job due to this issue.

I have tried many alternative treatment such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy,Pens under pain management doctor, acupuncture by neurologist but all failed. My surgeon prescribed me with many pain medications such as ultracet 2 tab 3 times a day, neurontin 3tab 3 times a day 300mg, Arcoxia 120mg ones daily, targin, myonal 3 tab 3 times. Lignopad.

For supplements for nerve are neurobion and methycobal.

    I am from Malaysia.

My neurosurgeon close my file and doesn’t know what is wrong to me, due to funds issue he refer me to a government hospital under orthopedic surgeon. From The MRI my surgeon says is normal just white patches.

The orthopedic surgeon suggested me to tried Ayurveda treatment and acupuncture.

Do you have any patients who successful manage their pain with Ayurveda treatment?

What is causing the discomfort while not moving after back surgery and is getting worse? Is it the scarring causes the problem?

Today my leg discomfort while not moving is getting worse. My leg strength is much better.

I am only 23 and I am not sleeping very well because of the leg discomfort.

I can’t sit even for 5 minutes and I can’t go college to study. I love travelling but i can’t do it now.

After taking the pain medication during day time the pain is less and I feel numbness. When the pain comes back and intense of the pain over powered the numbness, The worse pain appears during the night. off and on my left calf twitches too.

Lastest MRI in January is L4L5 level central bulging disc indent the ventral theca sac. Previous surgery discectomy at L5S1 via hemilaminotomy. Granulation tissue.

My parents are worried for me and I am worried too because I am only 23 and young. I want to goes back to university to study pharmacy. My dream is to be a pharmacist.

I don’t want to depend on pain killers.

    Looking forward for your reply.
    Thanks.

You might have one of three problems, chronic radiculopathy (see website), recurrent compression or adhesions. The first problem is one of internal nerve injury. The nerve’s internal workings were damaged by the compression of the herniation and you will have to learn to live with these symptoms. Hopefully, the symptoms will improve over time.

The second is recurrent compression. I would assume that you had both a neurosurgeon and radiologist look over your films. Sometimes, extruded fragments can “hide” on the images and a careful look can reveal a small fragment. After any spine surgery, scar tissue forms and these small fragments can cause havoc.

If you have adhesions, there are times that a neurolysis (freeing the nerve from these adhesions) can be effective but the success rate is more in the 50-60% category.

Your meaning is the success rate of neurolysis is 50 to 60%. I had rhizolysis done too. What is the difference between neurolysis and rhizolysis? What is epidural lysis procedure? Will epidural lysis and neurolysis is temporary pain relief or is it a permanent pain relief.

What my surgeon says there is scar tissue but not much that I had before my 2nd surgery.

    Hi.

I am still having Leg pain while sitting and laying on bed. In the morning the pain is minor and manageable. About afternoon leg pain will increase and its worse during the night.

I had EMG/NCV done and test show normal. Is it possible to have leg pain with normal results.

I had discectomy 8 months ago. I had leg pain after 1 year already.

Before i had discectomy I was totally bedridden and on wheel chair due to the severe muscle weakness. After the surgery my i had physio and my leg strength improve a lot. Currently my leg strength is almost back to it full strength.

Main problem now nerve pain, tight and pulling sensation and tightness. Sometimes i feeling like someone is tearing my leg after sitting for too long. Sometimes I get those calf twitching.
