    Hi doctor
I have been having low back pain but worse yet horrible terrible pain in my tailbone. I can’t sit on it very long and if I sit on anything hard it causes severe pain which radiates up into my low spine It makes it hard almost like it locks up some when I try to move after this. I also cannot tolerate bending over for very long either. It is still difficult to lift my right leg also even after a round of ct guided si joint injection Could you please give me an idea what this could be caused by. Whether a referred type pain or a direct kind of thing. It is very debilitating. I can’t stand to sit long even kind of sideways. Makes driving or any other activity complicated Also what type of dr should I see. An ortho? My.neurosurgeon didn’t say what he though only gave me a consult for an orthopedic doc. One other thing I want to mention before I go. I have been on this forum before with issues of Continuing neck pain swallowing difficulty and pressure and choking feeling or like something is stuck in my throat. A year ago in July I had a discectomy with allograft and playing at c5-6 which started my problem there. I am going in on the 22nd of June to have the plate removed and have that take. Out of the equation of some of my problems to see if it helps. I have this system wide inflammation which I believe is some kind of allergy or reaction the the plate inserted. Time will tell huh. But anyway I wanted to let you know I am having it done and will keep you updated if you would like. On my end I hope it helps someone else. Thank you

Pain originating in the lower back and coccyx (tailbone) could be from multiple sources. Even though the sacroiliac joint is an unlikely origin, you have had that rules out by your SI injection.

Coccxy pain can sometimes radiate up to the lower back and visa versa. Coccydynia type pain originates in the torn or irritable ligments joining the coccyx to the sacrum. An injection here can be helpful. Sitting on a donut until the inflammation subsides can be occasionally effective. There are rare cases that surgical removal of the coccxy is indicated. I have done that only one time in my career.

Discal pain from L5-S1 can occasionally radiate to the coccxy. An epidural steroid injection at L5-S1 that temporarily eliminates the coccxy pain can be an indicator of the presence of this condition.

Finally, peroneal neuropathy can also cause this disorder.
