After reviewing my MRI, I was informed that I have 17mm slippage on L5 S1 with bilateral pars defects. I was also told that I have severe bilateral foraminal compromise. Left more than right. I can hardly walk with severe pain in the lower back, crotch, and hip area. My foot constantly tingles. I am female, 54 years of age, 5’4″, 128lbs. Help! Thank-you

You have a grade II isthmic spondylolisthesis of L5 on S1 (see website). This is a common problem with at least 5% of the population involved with this disorder. Based upon your stated symptoms, you probably are a candidate for a TLIF (fusion) of the L5-S1 segment. You can try selective nerve root blocks (SNRB-see website) for pain relief. I would advise a consultation with a spine surgeon.
